During her last two days in Doha, Qatar, ACT Foundation’s Global President Devi Mohan, left the mark of ACT in the hearts of 550 poor labourers who were served a freshly cooked vegetarian meal.
The labourers were amazed when a truck with 550 meals arrived to their area in the evening. Interestingly enough, it rained right before the food distribution and the moment it was over, the rain started again.
Devi described the experience in the following way: “I was told that one can’t access the poor workers and that we can only try to go to the area where they often hang out in the evening, but that it may not be safe for a lady to go into such big crowds. My friends Sneza and Milica supported me and the catering company DLF agreed to not only prepare 550 meals on a short notice, but also offered the transportation and assistance. Their manager Thanos was especially helpful. We went into a rather remote, unknown area, not knowing whether we will find the workers. This was clearly orchestrated by Divine – we managed to find the workers and the energy that we felt while handing over food to these hungry people (who could hardly believe this was happening) was beyond words. Immense joy and lightness overwhelmed us. Thanos said he couldn’t believe they never tried to do this before. It takes so little to reach out to the needy and break the invisible barriers. The blissful lightness continued till the next day. It is such a great blessing to serve! I could really feel how the policy of giving 50% of income from Mai-Tri sessions keeps the energy flowing and enhancing. Social service is one of the greatest blessings of mankind. I really hope more people get inspired to dedicate time and funds for social service, for the needy and then witness the huge blessings in their lives.”
